Summary of course “Vietnam: Culture, Social Change and Economic Development” for Deputy Ambassadors - Mexican Embassy

The Closing Ceremony for the course "Vietnam: Culture, Social Change and Economic Development" was held on August 8th, 2023. This event was organized by the Phenikaa Center for Foreign Languages, Informatics and Skills (Center) in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Business at Phenikaa University. The course was specifically designed for the Deputy Ambassador of the Embassy of Mexico in Vietnam, with the aim of providing a comprehensive understanding of Vietnam's culture, social dynamics, and economic progress. The primary objective of this course is to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge pertaining to Vietnam's economy, society, and culture.

The Closing Ceremony of Phenikaa University was graced by the presence of several esteemed individuals from the institution. These included Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh, who serves as the Vice Principal, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa, also a Vice Principal, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Dinh, the Head of the Foreign Cooperation Department, Dr. Diem Thi Thanh Hai, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Dr. Tran Tuan Viet, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Dr. Dang Thi Huong Thao, the Center Director, MSc. Vu Thi Ngoc Anh, Deputy Director of the Center, and Dr. Le Manh Tu, a Lecturer from the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering. 

Especially, there was the presence of Mr. Pablo Adrián Lozano Lozano, Deputy Embassy of Mexico in Vietnam, main student of this course.  

The course was executed over a duration of 1.5 months, commencing on April 5th, 2023, and concluding on May 11th, 2023. Thus far, the course has successfully completed a total of 190 hours dedicated to study and research. This includes 24 hours of in-person instruction and 166 hours of independent study and research.

The objective of the course "Vietnam: Culture, Social Change and Economic Development" is to enable students to articulate and compare the planned economic system of Vietnam prior to 1986, commonly referred to as the pre-Renovation period, with the current state of affairs in the context of globalization. Additionally, students will be expected to integrate their understanding of development theory and practice at the local level, thereby analyzing the challenges faced by local economic development within the framework of globalization. Furthermore, students will engage in discussions pertaining to the evolution of Vietnam's financial market and its implications for the production and business activities of Vietnamese enterprises in the present era. Lastly, students will critically examine the societal, cultural, and post-Renovation environmental challenges, while also assessing the impacts of globalization on the Vietnamese economy and culture.

During the Closing Ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh expressed his emotional response to the Ambassador's recognition of the course "Vietnam: Culture, Social Change and Economic Development" and Phenikaa University. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Khanh expresses gratitude for the valuable contributions and diligent efforts made by the Deputy Ambassador during the duration of the study and research. Additionally, appreciation is extended to colleagues and lecturers for their dedicated endeavors in the design and execution of the course. In the future, it is anticipated that the Vice-Principal aspires to foster collaboration between Phenikaa University and the Mexican Embassy in Vietnam, facilitating the implementation of several initiatives across various domains.

In his post-course remarks, Mr. Pablo Adrián Lozano Lozano, Deputy Embassy of Mexico in Vietnam, expressed gratitude towards the professors and the institution for providing conducive circumstances and unwavering support during the course of study and research. From the moment of his arrival, he conveyed his enthusiasm and a feeling of affiliation with Phenikaa University. Upon the conclusion of the course, the individual had a sense of practicality, as it facilitated a deeper comprehension of Vietnam's culture and economy. The individual also said that the objective of engaging in this course extends beyond fulfilling the task designated by the Embassy, including a demonstration of their affection for the nation in which they have been given the chance to be employed. 

In addition to the primary material, the ceremony facilitated a dynamic conversation and garnered several insightful remarks. In line with this, the Deputy Ambassador put out a series of initiatives aimed at fostering stronger linkages between the Mexican Embassy, institutions in Mexico, and Phenikaa University. These initiatives include the establishment of student exchange programs and the organization of seminars, where academics from both nations may engage in knowledge sharing and collaboration. According to the Deputy Ambassador, this event serves as a significant milestone in completing the course and initiating a collaborative partnership between the two parties.  

The Faculty of Economics and Business at Phenikaa University is renowned for its pioneering nature and its many impactful initiatives. The primary focus of the Faculty is in the provision of high-quality training, which is facilitated by a team of professors who possess expertise in significant economic domains. These lecturers have extensive experience and have received training at prestigious institutions both in Vietnam and abroad. The course titled "Vietnam: Culture, Social Change, and Economic Development" serves as a practical endeavor aimed at facilitating international students' comprehension of Vietnam's culture, society, and economics. Phenikaa University takes great pride in hosting the Center for Foreign Languages, Informatics, and Skills, as well as the Faculty of Economics and Business, which have been instrumental in the development and execution of this particular course.
